Service Raleigh Day
Service Raleigh is an annual citywide day of service started in 1998 by NC State's Student Government and Park Scholars. Each year, volunteers from the university and surrounding community unite to undertake a variety of projects, each of which provides much needed assistance to local organizations. Service Raleigh is funded by the Park Foundation, NCSU Student Government, and local donors.
This year's Service Raleigh will be held on March 29th, 2014. This is a one day event, typically lasting from morning to mid-afternoon. Volunteers should have their own transportation arranged to and from the work site.
The easiest way to get involved is to volunteer. Register as an individual volunteer or as a group, and you will be contacted with further instructions as the event approaches. If you represent a local business wishing to donate resources or if you represent a local organization wishing to request volunteers for a service project, information will be published on the website in the fall.
On the day of Service Raleigh meet at Harris Field, which is across from Bragraw Residence Hall, on the corner of Dan Allen Drive and Cates Avenue. Click here for map. From Harris Field, volunteers will use their own arranged transportation to get to their assigned worksite.
“Our mission is to address the needs of our community, to foster a sense of community spirit, and to inspire our volunteers to a lifetime of involvement in public service.”
