What is Service Raleigh?

Service Raleigh is an annual city-wide day of service organized jointly by students from NC State University’s Student Government and the Park Scholarships program. Since 1998, it has partnered with local non-profits and community organizations to complete hands-on service projects across the Raleigh and Triangle area.

Who can volunteer for Service Raleigh?

Anyone! While we are student-run at NC State, students, faculty, alumni, and local Triangle residents are all welcome to join.

When and where does Service Raleigh take place?

Service Raleigh is Saturday, April 17, 2027. Event day kicks off at Talley Student Union on NC State's campus. 7:30 AM - Group Check-in 8:15AM -  Keynote & Sendoff 8:45 AM - Volunteers travel to their sites~9am- ~12pm - Onsite volunteering (length may vary depending on site).

Can I register with a group or friend?

Yes! During registration, you can join a group (site leaders can create a group) to ensure you are placed at the same volunteer site.

Question 5

What should I wear and bring on event day?

Accepted Answer

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, along with closed-toe shoes. Bring a reusable water bottle. We provide your official event t-shirt at check-in!

Question 6

Is transportation provided to project sites?

Accepted Answer

No. Volunteers and site leaders must coordinate transportation to and from their site.

Will lunch be provided?

Accepted Answer

No. Service Raleigh provides volunteers light snacks before they head to their site. Please make sure you bring a water bottle. Note: occassionally, a community partner provides lunch to their volunteers  but this is not expected.
